A declaration of intent has been signed on the behalf of Húsnæðis -og mannvirkjastofnun (HMS) towards Bjarg íbúðafélag.
Bjarg íbúðafélag has a temporary payment delay intended to assist tenants who are experiencing payment difficulties following a job loss or reduced employment rate due to COVID-19.
The management and staff of Bjarg íbúðafélag are now discussing the response to temporary loss of income following unemployment or reduced employment rate caused by COVID-19. Bjarg's is already keeping rental costs to a minimum, but as before, Bjarg will work closely with its tenants in the event of temporary difficulties.
Applications are now open for apartments in new locations; Hallgerðargata (by Kirkjusandur) in Reykjavík, Hraunbær in Reykjavík, Silfratjörn (in Úlfarsárdalur) in Reykjavík and in Gudmannshaga, Akureyri.
Althingi has passed a legislative amendment which raises the maximum criteria for the income and assets for public housing. The change came into effect on January 1st, 2020.
