Bjarg íbúðafélag, kt: 490916-0670, at Kletthálsi 1, 110 Reykjavík, is a housing foundation established by the Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASÍ) and the Federation of State and Municipal Employees (BSRB). Bjarg is a non-profit foundation and its aim is to provide families with low-income access to long-term rent:

By registering to the waiting list, the applicant confirms that he/she is in compliance with all general conditions of Bjarg allocation rules.

Bjarg does not check that an applicant actually meets all conditions until an apartment is available and an applicant is eligible according to his/her status on the waiting list.

When registering on a waiting list, the applicant agrees to pay a registration fee according to the price list. Registration of a waiting list requires the applicant to confirm annually by paying a membership fee according to the company's tariff. The status of the applicant on the waiting list is first activated when the registration fee has been paid and from the time it is paid. If the annual membership fee is not paid, the applicant will be removed from the waiting list and will lose his waiting list number. Charges for listing on waiting lists are irreversible.

Payments are made through a safe payment system from Valitor and Bjarg receives no card information from customers. Cardholder information is not disclosed to third parties. You can also pay by bank transfer.

Waiting list registrations are sorted according to their submission date and become active when membership fee has been received. However, there was an initial exception, in that registrations received until and including 31st July 2018, were entered in a pool and applicants ordered by drawing lot.

Registering on the waiting list is not sufficient for the allocation of an apartment. The applicant must apply for a specific type of apartment when apartments are available for allocation. Those who are listed on the waiting list will receive an e-mail each time an apartment is free for an application.

The lowest number on the waiting list determines allocation, subject to the number of rooms and priority, indicated in article 4 in the allocation rules.

In order to allocate an apartment, Bjarg needs to verify information that the applicant has provided in the application and see if an applicant actually meets all necessary conditions, Bjarg is compliant with the Privacy and Privacy Policy No. 77/2000.
