Here are the reasons why an application is registered "on hold" and what you need to do

Reason#1: Confirmation for pregnancy or joint custody has not been received

You have registered in your application that you are expecting a child or there is joint custody. In order to continue with your application, a confirmation of this is needed.

Confirmation of pregnancy is a medical certificate stating that the person is pregnant. The certificate is called a "certificate of expected birth." This information is usually available free of charge a www.heilsuvera.is, entered with an electronic ID. There you should find information on the pregnancy. Send the confirmation as a pdf document to bjargibudafelag@bjargibudafelag.is. Please note that the document must inform that it is a pregnancy and the name of the parent must be clearly stated.

Joint custody can usually be accessed free of charge on island.is, entered with an electronic ID. Under "my information" you click on "view information" next to the child's name. A new window will open where information about the child will appear. Send the confirmation as a pdf document to bjargibudafelag@bjargibudafelag.is. Note that this document must state that there is joint custody and your name must also appear there along with the name of your child.

Reason#2: Union membership is not sufficient

You must have been active on the labor market and a member of one of the unions within ASÍ or BSRB for a minimum of 16 out of the last 24 months (viewed from the time you are eligible for an apartment). It seems that your union membership was not sufficient at the time we last worked on your application.

You can see the member associations on the ASÍ and BSRB websites.

Here you can see the unions within ASÍ.

Here you can see the unions within BSRB

If you are unsure whether the union is within ASÍ or BSRB, it is best to contact your union.

Although your membership does not meet the conditions today, the application can be reviewed later. The applicant is therefore encouraged to maintain his waiting list number if he expects to meet these conditions later. All allocations are based on waiting list numbers so having a low/old number can be very important.

If you have questions related to this or believe that this is not correct information, please send an email to bjargibudafelag@bjargibudafelag.is

Reason#3: RSK (Dokobit) approval required

The Act on "Public Housing" stipulates certain income and property criteria set by the Ministry of Welfare in Iceland, these criteria are reviewed regularly. In order to be able to assess whether Bjarg is authorized to allocate an apartment to the applicant, Bjarg must view through RSK the applicant's last tax report or the income in recent months.

The applicant must give his/her consent for such a search, but your consent has not yet been received. You should have received a document sent via Dokobit where we ask for your electronic signature. It may be a good idea to enter the word "Dokobit" in your inbox, but if it has been a while, you might want to send an email to bjargibudafelag@bjargibudafelag.is and we will reactivate the document

Reason #4: The applicant has requested that the application be put on hold

If this is the reason you, the applicant, have requested that your application would put on hold for some reason. An email must be sent to bjargibudafelag@bjargibudafelag.is to reactivate your application.
