The constructions of 33 new rental apartments built by Bjarg Íbúðafélag in Aparskógar 12, 14 and 16 in Akranes was formally launched October 4th.

The beginning of rent is estimated to be on two different dates, in June and July 2019. The municipality of Akranes will have 25% of the apartments in Asparskógar for their own allocations.

Modulus will handle the building of the houses and the architect is Svava Björg Jónsdóttir.

When designing the apartments, efforts were made to make good use of space, and with fewer square meters, the company can offer lower rental prices. The studio-apartments will be 40,4 square meters, the two-room apartments 52 square meters, the three-room apartments 77 square meters and the four-room apartments 93 square meters.

The company already has 238 apartments under construction and about 430 in the design process, in Reykjavík, Hafnarfjörður, Akranes, Akureyri, Þorlákshöfn and Sandgerði. Discussions are also at an early stage in other municipalities and the company plans to build 1400 rental apartments in the next four years.

Bjarg's mission is to provide tenants with secure homes in long-term rent. The apartments in Asparskógar will, therefore, be an important addition to the housing market in Akranes.

Registrations on the waiting list for Bjarg’s apartments have started and are done online on “my pages” on the website, bjargibudafelag.is
